BIFF Photo Gallery Eight -- Bonnie Chaim

James Franco talks to Festival Director Kathy Beeck on arrival.
Long-time BIFF attendee Bonnie Chaim was there for most of the weekend with her camera as well -- in addition to providing us with the best shots of Oliver Stone in action, she produced a nice spread of exposures. Here are some! Thanks, Bonnie!

Franco looks momentarily overwhelmed by his rousing reception at BIFF.

Nobody ever gets a picture of him! It's our intrepid BIFF photographer Randy Malone, who never put down his camera, even during cocktail time.

Howdy! It's Oliver Stone, with Robin.

Aron Ralston (left), whose experience was adapted into the Oscar-nominated "127 Hours," gives the Vanguard Award to honoree James Franco, who plays him in the film.
Randy Malone has been BIFF's go-to guy for complete photographic coverage of the festival since its very beginnings. Here's a look at just some of the magnificent images he captured over the course of BIFF 2011. To see all of his BIFF pictures from the festival go to http://www.photomalone.com/ and click on the 2011 Boulder Int'l Film Festival link! Thank you, Randy!

BIFF Photo Gallery Six -- Jen McGowan

Jen McGowan poses with Pearl Street Mall regular Bruiser, the World's Biggest Dog (we think Bob Aiken is around there somewhere.)
Director Jen McGowan, who visited the Boulder International Film Festival and took home the award for Best New Filmmaker for her short narrative, "Touch," was kind enough to share her photos from the weekend with us. Thanks, Jen! Here is a selection (captions by Brad Weismann; photos by Jen McGowan save for those in which she appears):

Long but cheerful lines were a rule of thumb at BIFF 2011.

BIFF Photo Gallery Five -- Workshops and Panels

Here are a selection of photos of our 2011 workshops and panels! These were taken by our new Workshops & Panels Coordinator, Kathy De Bay. She did a great job, by the way -- these were the most extensive and best-attended in BIFF history!

FIRST THREE PHOTOS: From the "Make Your Own Short Film" workshop, held on Saturday morning, Feb. 19, in the Mighty Fudge Studios at 1017 Pearl St. Boulder Digital Arts personnel were there to lead the session.

NEXT TWO PHOTOS: Six directors joined us for the the seventh annual Filmmakers Panel at the Boulder Public Library on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 19.

NEXT THREE PHOTOS: The "Animation Station" workshop, presented free and exclusively to students age 13 to 18, took place Sunday morning at the Might Fudge Studios. An animated short for YouTube created by this class should be posted soon . . . we will put it up here as well!
