Our wonderful Workshops and Panels Coordinator Donna Crain grabbed these images at our Program Release Party on Thursday. It's the annual event at which members, sponsors and community representatives are given an exclusive sneak peek at our program for the year.
This year, the event was staged in a unique and beautiful venue -- that of the jeweler Todd Reed Gallery at 2015 Pearl Street. Thank you to Todd Reed (toddreed.com), and to Francis Ford Coppola wines, Avery Brewing, and Zoe Ma Ma for sponsoring our event. The performance by the Lemon Sponge Cake contemporary dance troupe was spectacular as well! And, as you can see, the party was a blast.
We're incredibly excited by this year's films and special guests. We will be announcing the posting of the 2012 schedule, along with tickets sales for all events, within hours. Stay tuned!

Our first Sponsor Spotlight video is here!
BIFF Sponsor Spotlight Interview with Sacha Millstone 2nd cut from Indie Media: The New Journalism on Vimeo.
The Boulder International Film Festival is proud to present the first in its new series of Sponsor Spotlight videos this year! This tool helps us to underline the efforts and interests of many of our long-time sponsors, giving everyone an inside look at who they are, why they love BIFF, and how they fit in to the local and filmmaking communities.
Thanks so much to the folks at Millstone Evans for being our brave pioneer subjects! Keep your eyes out for more Sponsor Spotlights, coming right up! For more information about this new program, please contact Sponsor Liaison Chris Northrup at chris@biff1.com.

New to BIFF – Anvil Knitwear presents Shirt Scan!
Shirts that have something to say. Really.
The Boulder International Film Festival is proud to partner with Anvil Knitwear, the official T-shirt sponsor of the festival, to create an entirely new intersection of style, technology and information. They call it a dynamic content delivery system! We call it coolness itself.
Here’s how it works: BIFF T-shirts have a QR (quick response) code, such as the one pictured above, printed on each and every item. Using your smartphone and the Shirt Scan app, you can read the QR code and unlock exclusive BIFF content that will include daily BIFF picks, summaries of the previous day’s highlights, photos, videos and more.
![]() |
| You can find your QR code on the right-hand side, bottom front corner of your BIFF gear. |
This cutting-edge special offering means that you, your friends, those in line around you – anyone with a smartphone – can open and enjoy a wealth of content unavailable anywhere else on the planet.
Procedure:
1. Buy your gear.
2. Whip out your iPhone or Android-based smartphone.
3. Follow the appropriate link to
4. Download the FREE Shirt Scan app.
5. Find your QR code.
6. Scan it . . .
7. Enjoy!
8. You can SHARE the content via Facebook or Twitter simply by using the “share” button with the Shirt Scan interface.
9. This is not a one-time encounter. Look for fresh content EVERY DAY during the festival!
Isn’t that amazing? We’ve seen the future, and you’re wearing it. These supplies of QR-coded shirts are limited, so look for them in the Boulder Theater lobby, at our Info Booth station in The Tent at 14th and Pearl, and in the registration office on the first floor of the St. Julien Hotel.
We are so happy to have several representatives from Anvil here with us during the festival. Look for them -- they will be gathering and providing content, talking about the technology, asking you how you like it, and just kicking back and having a nice time with us. They are nice folks! Say hi to them, won’t you? Thanks!

A note of thanks from our BIFF volunteers!
Dear Friends,
Thank you so much for your support of the Boulder International Film Festival. Without your help, these amazing films that help educate, integrate and inspire our local community would not be seen.
The festival is this weekend, February 17 - 20 - what does your film "dance card" look like?
One of BIFF's most unique aspects honors our Boulder-activist sensibility. BIFF's Call 2 Action films and programming marries selected films' issues and causes with local community groups' efforts. Be sure to check out these very special films at www.biff1.com/call-to-action.html, and add YOUR voice to the conversation!
Here's a friendly reminder to get your tickets now, as many shows can sell out. Tickets are available on the website http://www.biff1.comand at the Boulder Theater box office and seating is limited. Tickets are $12/adults, $10/students/seniors, and special pricing is available for groups of 10 or more.
As an extra incentive, anyone with a BIFF ticket stub can attend the Keen Footwear Happy Hour, Friday and Saturday, Feb 18 and 19, from 4:00 - 6:00 at the Lazy Dog in Boulder for FREE wine, beer and appetizers. Also, they'll receive a FREE BIFF appetizer by presenting their ticket stub to any one of these great sponsoring Boulder restaurants: Centro Latin Kitchen & Refreshment Palace, Happy Noodle House, Jax Fish House Boulder, The West End Tavern, Zolo Southwestern Grill.
So buy your tickets, start tweeting, posting and shouting out your love for BIFF. We're sending the love right back at you!
The entire volunteer staff at the Boulder International Film Festival thanks you.
See you at the movies!

Sponsor (and Partner) Love
Let's face it. We couldn't do it alone.
Just as you need your big bag of hot buttered popcorn, drink and box of Jujubes in order to enjoy your favorite film, so we need the help of nearly countless folks to make our big, exciting festival happen every year.
As much as inspiration, hard work and the help of thousands of volunteers have shaped the Boulder International Film Festival, we would be in quite a state indeed if not for our sponsors and partners.
Look around -- almost all of the artistic and cultural festivals in America are supported by the kindness and capital of sponsors and partners. Non-profit organizations must rely on the wisdom of businesses which realize how important these events are for the feeding of the mental, emotional and spiritual needs of the community.
Time and time again, our sponsors and partners have come through for us. Besides financial contributions, they give us resources, time, effort, equipment, goodwill, networking and publicity. They pitch in and help out. They engage; they sit in the theater with us -- and help us pick up the empty popcorn boxes afterward. In a very real sense, they are our friends.
That's why we're proud to let you know who are and how much they care. You'll find a new sidebar here on our blog, listing them alphabetically and providing links to their websites. We encourage you to patronize them -- or at least give them a high-five if you run across them on the street. We can't thank them enough!
